Soulfit Newsletters - October 2020 - Moving you into Autumn (all our latest news beautifully designed to shine a light on these dark days)

AN AUTUMN CATCH UP...

As what we can & can't do continues to evolve, we wanted to give you an update on a few bits & pieces, so you've got ongoing peace of mind about how we're navigating things & continuing to make this space as safe as possible for you.  What's most important right now, is that you can find some much needed respite during this crazy old time.

Read on for news of what we've been up to, plus news of updates to our online prices; how we've been recognised for meeting the trading standards guidelines for COVID-19; schedule tweaks... plus news of a few delicious workshops to take you far, far away from everything that's going on in the outside world...

First up, and for your reassurance we were spot-checked last week for COVID-19 compliance by the Trading Standards Authority & were highly praised for all the procedures we've put in place.  We fully appreciate many of you just aren't able to visit us in person right now.  But if you were unsure, we hope this brings some comfort.

It may also help to know that our class numbers are very varied, so please don't assume you won't get a space.  Booking is definitely a requirement, & do please remember we have a 6-hour cancellation policy, which really helps us manage the waiting lists on our most popular classes.

Finally, just a reminder that mask wearing and Track & Trace registration is now a legal requirement, so we need to ask for your cooperation in these new times.  If you haven't already, you can download the NHS COVID-19 App here.

Thanks so much for your ongoing understanding & support.

New Prices for Live-Streamers

We've been able to hold our lockdown prices throughout September & October, but in order for us to continue to offer our awesome schedule of classes, our drop in rate for Live Stream & On Demand classes will be increasing to £7 from 1st November. We really hope you'll agree this is still incredible value.  Of course, if this is a challenge for you in any way, please let us know so we can continue to look after you during these challenging times.

The good news is we've been able to hold our Monthly* Unlimited Online Only pass at £30, so this is by far the most cost effective way to access classes on the screen.

Our mid-Autumn schedule has had a couple of minor tweaks.  As always, we've done everything in our power to offer consistency, so you can continue to enjoy all the beautiful benefits of Vinyasa Flow, Dynamic Hatha, Iyengar, Gentle Flow, Restorative Yoga, Barre & HIIT

Just a couple of notes: Barre has now become Barre Express on Fridays 12-12.45pm & Adult Ballet is moving to a regular workshop-style extended class launching on Sunday 29th November, 2.30-4pm - the first one will have a theme of The Nutcracker, watch this space for sign up details.

ARE YOU STRUGGLING TO FIND TIME?

Have you felt a sharp surge of additional pressures & stresses coming hard at you recently?  We’ve noticed a huge shift - with work, home & family challenges escalating for so many of us. So, finding time in our day to exercise or step away from it all & slow down not only seems impossible, but indulgent & selfish.  Our favourite Podcaster Adrienne Herbert/The Power Hour often talks about that familiar expression of putting your oxygen mask on first.  Reminding us of the importance of making time to put ourselves in a better mental & physical place, so we can do the same for the people around us.

‘You can’t give what you don’t have’

But still, finding time to exercise is one of the biggest reasons why people don’t commit to working out.  Soulfit’s Owner & Personal Trainer Gyles Abbott is the biggest ambassador for helping us with this ongoing issue.  He’ll always carve out time in his day for a run or a workout - it’s his non-negotiable. So he’s the best person to help us along our way.

Here are his top 5 solutions:

  • Start by taking a brutally honest look at your day – how much of it is as productive as you think it is?  Do you regularly fall down social media rabbit-holes?  Are you spending longer on certain jobs than you need to? If you put your exercise further up the priority list, you’ll find you’re far more energised & more likely to power through things that you’d previously have dragged out.

  • Make a Plan – Start small by carving out time for a couple of sessions a week. As you start to feel the benefits you’ll naturally want to increase them.  Group Classes are great because the content is planned for you, the only planning you need is the allocation of time.

  • Go for shorter regular bursts - Shorter group planned sessions are far more efficient for your physical & mental health than going to a gym with no plan & drifting from one piece of equipment to another.

  • Get up Earlier – we’re firm believers in reclaiming time for yourself, when no-one else can ask for a piece of you.  As an extra tip - put your kit out the night before, scrapping for things in the early hours can easily lead to failed attempts, so preparation is key.

  • Choose something you love - find that thing you enjoy doing.  It's much easier to form a habit when you're doing something that gives you pleasure.

99% of the time, you'll never feel worse for turning up & getting on with it - you’ll always feel better, more energised & more able. Next time you’re close to not going, make a pact with yourself to give it a go anyway, maybe just for 10 minutes? You’ll be so glad you did.
